Thiruvananthapuram: Vava Suresh revealed that he is facing mental torture from some of the forest officers. He also said that the State forest headquarters has informed him not to bring captured snakes.
He opened up in a program arranged by Janam TV news, in which he also said that he does not know the reason for this attitude.
He disclosed on world snake day, celebrated on July 16 every year.
Meanwhile, he added that he will continue capturing the snakes as long as the people need his help.
World Snake day aims to raise awareness on people to respect and accept the ecosystem that includes snakes.
Under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, keeping snakes is illegal and killing them is an offense punishable with imprisonment or a fine. Snakes namely Python, Indian rat snake, cobra, viper, water-cobra and king cobra are included in schedules one and two.
