New Delhi: India has achieved a new milestone in the biggest Covid vaccination drive. The nation crossed 200 crore doses of Covid vaccinations that have started across the country since January 16, 2021.
The Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya commented this as a proud moment for the nation and extended his wishes to the health workers and citizens.
In the first phase, the vaccination was given to the health worker and then given to the frontline workers from February 2nd 2021. The next phase of vaccination to the senior citizens and critically ill persons above 45 years of age began on April 1st. Nation decided to extend the coverage of the vaccination drive by giving it to all adults from May 1st 2021. Later the vaccination was arranged to children between the age of 12 – 14 and on April 10th the country started giving booster doses to all people above 18 years.
The central government has informed that from July 15 they will provide free precautionary vaccine doses to everyone for 75 days on behalf of the 75th anniversary of Indian independence, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
