Thiruvananthapuram: The central team which reached Kerala, to review the situation, will meet the Health Minister Veena George today. The officials will provide necessary suggestions on the precautionary measures to be taken by the state health department. Kerala is the first state where monkeypox is reported in the country.
The central team had held discussions with the officials of Kerala health department last day and evaluated the situation. The team also visited the medical college hospital where the patient is admitted. The high level team will return to Delhi after the meeting with health minister and will submit a detailed report to the Central Health Ministry.
Meanwhile, the state has strengthened protective measures to prevent the spreading of monkeypox. The health department has started screening at airports. The help desk will monitor if any passenger has diagnosed with symptoms of monkeypox and will assure best treatment.
The central team comprising P Ravindran, Sanket Kulkarni, Dr Akhilesh Thole, Dr Anuradha and Dr Ruchi Jain.
