New Delhi: Voting for the presidential election has ended and 99 percent members cast their votes.
Voting to elect the 15th President of India started today at 10 am and the counting will take place at the parliament on 21st of this month.
NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu and Opposition joint candidate Yashwant Sinha were the two candidates in the fray.
Draupadi Murmu, who received support from all major parties, confirms the victory.
The prominent leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, had casted their votes.
The polling has been conducted in room number 63 in Parliament and in booths specially made for the same.
Including the MPs and MLAs, there are 4809 voters in total. The polling was conducted through secret ballots.
Green colour ballots were given for MPs and pink colour for MLAs. The MPs vote value is 700 and MLAs vote value changes according to the population of the corresponding states. The vote value of an MLA in Kerala is 152.
All members casted their vote using a violet ink pen given by the Election Commission.
The Rajya Sabha secretary P C Modi is the election officer.
