Kollam: The police have taken five female staff in custody for forceful removal of NEET aspirant’s innerwear in Kollam. Two staff of Ayur Marthoma Institute of Information and Technology, where NEET exam was conducted and three staff from examination agency were taken into custody today. DIG R Nishanthini informed that these five are being interrogated. Kollam rural SP B K Ravi told that five complaints have been received so far.
Ministry of education has intervened in the issue . Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan has ordered for a thorough inquiry. Ministry of Education sought report to additional secretary. National Testing Agency Director General Vineeth Joshi, while responding, told that such an incident is reported from the Kerala state only. Action will be taken based on the enquiry report. Will also check whether the allegations are malicious, added NTA director general.
Governor Arif Muhammed Khan told the incident is unfortunate.
Woman Commission members visited the college and took suo motu and asked for a detailed report from rural SP.
State Human Rights Commission and youth commissions have also taken case against on the shocking incident. More female students have raised complaints against Ayur exam centre.
Student-youth organisations held mass protests. ABVP held march to the exam centre. Several workers including ABVP state committee member K M Vishnu were arrested.
