New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Sadhvi Niranjan clarified, 19.5 crore of ration cards are now digitized. Among this, 99 percent of the cards are linked with Aadhar. It is also informed that the states have received time till September 30 to complete the rest of the linking procedures.
The Government has implemented an end-to-end computerization of Targeted Public Distribution System Operations (TPDS) to bring transparency in the public distribution system. Details of the beneficiaries, transparency portal, grievance redressal system and online allocation will function under this system.
Installations of electronic point of sale (EPOS) weapons are also being successfully completed. The EPOS machine has a system that collects the information of the beneficiaries digitally. Minister said that out of 5.33 lakh of fair price shops, 5.32 lakh shops have installed EPOS machines. She also added that the digital ration cards will be available through the digital transparency portal.
