New Delhi: Draupadi Murmu’s victory is a historical incident on the 75th year of Indian freedom, says union minister Amit Shah.
This is a reply to those who are creating split in the communities and talk about their upliftment. Not words but such actions would work to gain empowerment, said the minister
The enrolment of a lady from Santhal community to the country’s highest position can be considered as a great victory of Indian democracy, the minister said while attending an inaugural function at National Forensic Science University.
He specially mentioned Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, who was the president of India when BJP was in tenure and the outgoing president Ramnath Kovind who hailed from a Dalit family and served as the country’s first citizen.
It was under the presidency of APJ Abdul Kalam, India reached global standards in the fields of science and technology and the country’s defence system was improved, Amit Shah added.
