New Delhi: Union Minister Smriti Irani on Sunday sent a legal notice to the Congress and its spokespersons over allegations made against her daughter.

In the notice, she asked them to tender a written unconditional and unequivocal apology forthwith to her and unconditionally withdraw the allegations with immediate effect and remove all such false information from all platforms.

On Saturday, Irani held a press conference regarding this issue and slammed the Congress for “publicly mutilating” her daughter’s character. She said that her daughter is a student, she does not run a bar.

She also asked the Congress to show her daughter’s name mentioned in the papers that they flashed.

An 18-year-old child, a college student, her character was assassinated by Congressmen at Congress headquarters. Her fault is that her mother fought against Rahul Gandhi in Amethi, said Irani.

Congress on Saturday alleged that a restaurant linked to the Union Minister’s daughter illegally obtained a bar license, and demanded that the Minister be sacked. Irani came down heavily on the Congress for “character assassination” of her daughter. She denied that her daughter had any links with the restaurant, and added that she would see them in the court.
