Sreeram Venkitaraman takes charge of Alappuzha Collector; Congress conduct black flag protests

Alappuzha: In the midst of the ongoing protests, Sreeram Venkitaraman has taken charge of Alappuzha
Collector today morning. He has been appointed to the position of Dr Renu Raj
who has now been transferred to Ernakulam.

Sreeram is the prime accused in the death of Journalist Basheer.  The Congress, Muslim League and some Islamic organizations had raised protests against the new appointment of Sreeram in the context of the ongoing case against him.

The youth congress workers had waved black flag against Sreeram this morning and protesters were beaten up by the police.
