Thiruvananthapuram: Onam food kit will be distributed through ration shops this time too, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in a press meet today. The total expense for this will be around 425 crore rupees, added CM.
The Government started distributing food kits during the first wave of Covid-19 and this was really a great help for people. And as the spread of the disease tapered, the distribution of food kits was stopped but had given kits for last Onam. The Government is facing financial crisis now, but have decided to distribute kits for this Onam too, said the Chief Minister.
The food kit including a cloth bag, will have 14 items. Last time, the Government had distributed food kits 13 times and the cost was 5500 crore rupees, added Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
