Kolkata: In the background of the ongoing teacher recruitment scam, the Trinamool Congress leader Partha Chatterjee, the prime accused in the case, has been removed from the state cabinet ministry. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting called by the CM Mamata Banerjee government today.
The decision was taken in the midst of demands for his expulsion from the ministry. TMC spokesperson and general secretary Kunal Ghosh put forward this demand last day.
Partha Chatterjee was the minister of various departments including Industry, IT, Commerce, Parliamentary Affairs, Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction. These sections are now under Mamata Banerjee.
The Enforcement Directorate has seized 21.9 crore rupees, foreign currencies worth 56 lakh rupees and gold worth one crore rupees from Partha Chatterjee’s assistant Arpita Mukherjee’s residence at Kolkata. And both of them were arrested after this.
