New Delhi: Over his ‘Rashtrapatni’ remark on the President Droupadi Murmu, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhari has finally apologised. The MP has written a letter to the President, mentioning his fault as ‘slip of the tongue’.
His letter of apology reads as “I am writing to express my regret for having mistakenly used an incorrect word to describe the position you hold. I assure you that it was a slip of the tongue. I apologise and request you to accept the same”.
Massive protests raised over the insulting remark of Adhir Ranjan Chowdhari. BJP MPs stormed their protest in the Parliament. Based on the complaint filed by BJP leaders, a case had been taken against Adhir Ranjan Chowdhari.
National Woman’s Commission too had filed a case. Commission observed that the MP’s statement was derogatory and sexist insult and ordered Adhir Ranjan Chowdhari to appear before the commission on 3 August.
