Birmingham: India bags third gold medal in the Commonwealth Games as Achinta Sheuli wins in the men’s 73 kg final by lifting 313 kg. Achinta created record by lifting a highest of 143 kg in snatch.
He lifted 170 kg in Clean and Jerk series. He lifted 137 kg in first snatch attempt, 140 in the second and 143 in the third.
This is India’s sixth medal in this edition. Last day, Jeremy Lalrinnunga won gold in the Men’s 67 kg event. Mirabai Chanu won India’s first gold on Saturday in Women’s 49 kg class. Sanket Sargar got silever medal, Gururaja Poojaray won bronze and Bindyarani Devi clinched silver medal.
