New Delhi: The Central Government has today declared that the personal data protection bill has been withdrawn. Union IT Minister Aswini Vaishnav informed in the parliament that the new legislation with comprehensive legal framework will be presented soon.
The Joint Parliamentary Committee has proposed 81 amendments and 12 recommendations. These recommendations will be thoroughly checked. The new law will be made only after detailed discussions and evaluations, added Union Minister.
The expert panel was formed under Justice B N Sreekrishna on 31 July 2017 to find out solutions for the issues regarding data protection. The committee submitted its report on 27 July 2018.
The bill presented in the year 2019 was sent to the joint committee and later on 16 December 2021, the committee submitted its report.
