Pathanamthitta: Vallasadya, the cultural icon of Aranmula has begun today. Last two years, the vallasadya was curtailed due to Covid protocol.
On the first day, seven palliyodams (snake boats) took part in the offering. Maraman palliyodam that reached first in the temple quay got warm reception by the representatives of the Devaswom Board and devotees connected with the rituals.
Sumptuous feast with 64 dishes was offered to the Lord Parthasarathy and that marked the vary beginning of vallasadya. The oarsmen asked for the dishes as they sang rhythmic and poetic notes.
The rituals of vallasadya will last two months. Amid flood alerts, this year’s traditional feast is being celebrated with certain restrictions.
