Thrissur: Minister K Rajan said that Thrissur has received the highest rate of rainfall. He also advised people to be cautious about the situation and continue staying in relief camps.
In Thrissur, 534 families with around 1600 people are staying in 51 relief camps.
A slight decrease in rainfall has actually lightened the situation to an extent.
Meanwhile, state declared holiday for educational institutions including professional colleges in Thrissur, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Wayanad and Kannur districts today. All educational institutions in Vellarikundu taluk and Hosdurg taluk in Kasaragod also declared holiday.
M G University has postponed all exams that are scheduled for today.
At the same time, authorities said that the shutters of Mullaperiyar and Malampuzha dams might be opened today. The current rate of water in Mullaperiyar dam is 136.75 feet. The authorities issued an alert when the water level crossed 136 feet.
Rainfall continues in the catchment areas of the dam.
