Birmingham: India has received the 6th gold medal in the Commonwealth games. The medal was received by Sudhir for his grand performance in para lifting. With this, he crossed the record of commonwealth games.
This is for the first time India achieving gold in para lifting. Sudhir confirmed his gold after defeating Nigeria’s Ikechukwu. Sudhir gained 134.5 points by lifting 212 kilograms.

With the display of skill and spirit on the mat today you showed the world what champions are made of ” , says Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for I&B and Youth Affairs & Sports.
Sudhir hails from a farmer’s family in Haryana. It was the first time he participated in the commonwealth games. He is an employee in Haryana Government department.
Meanwhile India’s Sreesanth has won a silver medal in long jump. He attained it by jumping 8.08 metres. This made him the first Indian who achieved silver in long jump.
