Kozhikkod: The dead body found from Kodikkal beach has been identified as Irshad, who was abducted by the gold smuggling team earlier last month. Police informed that the DNA report of Irshad matches with his parents. Rural SP of Kozhikkod has told the details to media today.

Police suspects the incident as a murder case. Several people have connection with the murder. However, thorough investigation is on, said the police.

Rural SP also informed that a report on the accused Salih has been submitted before the court. The body was handed over to the relatives of Deepak, as they have claimed it as Deepak’s. Further proceedings will be done once the postmortem report is received, added SP.

Irshad was abducted by the gold smuggling team on 6 July. Irshad’s parents were continuously threatened with frequent phone messages. And on 17 July, Irshad’s body was recovered.

The accused had told police that Irshad jumped into the river from the vehicle after he was abducted. Eye witnesses had given their statement as they had seen one man jumping to the river from a car on 16 July. Deepak, native of Meppayur, was also found missing the same day.
