Panaji: Taxi driver, who was accused of attempting to rape a woman, was arrested by the Anjuna police. The tourist woman from Chennai had reached Goa International Airport last day. The deputy superintendent Jeevba Dalvi said that the incident took place when the lady was trying to step out of the share cab that she had booked to travel from Airport to a villa in Anjuna.
The other people who accompanied her had left the cab and the taxi driver grabbed her when she stepped out from the cab. She somehow managed to escape from him and took shelter in the villa.
From her complaint, the police recognised the taxi by tracing the vehicle number.
The culprit Midhun Sreekanth, a Karnataka Gulbarga native, was presented before the court and remanded under IPC 354.
