New Delhi: Indian Council of Medical Research states that the monkeypox strain reported in the country is different from the European variant. The report also states that the monkey flu virus that found in the first two cases reported in the country was different from the one that caused the spread in Europe. This became clear in the analysis conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research in two people who were diagnosed with the disease.
According to the research conducted under ICMR-NIV’s senior scientist Dr. Pranja Yadhav, variant A.2 is found in the genome sequencing of the two infected people who returned from UAE. The variant that was found in Europe was A.1. The scientists from NIV made it clear that they have not yet learned as how dangerous the variant is. But Yadav’s finding explains that the B.1 variant of monkeypox is spreading now. The doctor’s findings were published in the journal Research Square.
It was also found that the disease symptoms were different in those who arrived from the two countries. Fever, muscle aches and rashes in genital areas were the main symptoms in these patients. Sputum and blood samples were taken from both cases on the ninth day of diagnosis. Following this the findings came out.
