Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted isolated heavy rainfall in the state. Yellow alert has been issued for 9 districts.
Yellow alert has been declared in Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod districts.
Thunderstorm and lightening is very likely in some parts o the state from 6 August to 10th of this month, says report.
IMD forecast says 7 to 11 cm rainfall ( in 24 hours) is very likely in Kerala till 11 August. The possibility of isolated heavy rainfall is due to the presence of cyclonic circulation in the Middle East Arabian Sea.
A strong low pressure has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal. It is possible to become an extreme low pressure. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea. The low pressure formed over Odisha – West Bengal coast in Northwest Bay of Bengal has turned into a strong low pressure near Odisha – North Andhra Pradesh coast. It is likely to move west -north west side over Odisha-Chhattisgarh region . A low pressure has formed from south Maharashtra coast to north Kerala coast.
Last day too the state had witnessed heavy rainfall in several areas that lasted for hours.
