Birmingham: Indian Badminton player PV Sindhu shared her happiness in achieving a gold medal for the first time in the Commonwealth Games 2022.
Sindhu, who created history by defeating the Canadian’s Michelle Li in the women’s singles category, thanked her coaches and the doctors who treated her injuries.
Sindhu told the media that she hopes to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in person soon. She also said that she is grateful for the words of the Prime Minister who praised her as the “champion of champions”.
The badminton player added that she had worked very hard for this achievement.
Support is very much needed for every athlete and the trainers and the doctors have worked very hard for it, says Sindhu.
The Commonwealth Games come once in every four years. Hence, so much awaited for achieving this gold medal. Various tournaments are coming one after the other and next is the World Championship, Sindhu added.
Sindhu’s coach Park Tai Sang responded that he is very happy with her achievement.
