Kochi: Even though India lost to Australia in Commonwealth Games, goalkeeper and Malayali star Sreejesh’s family is happy in the achievement of India in Silver. Despite not being able to win the gold, this silver achievement was a golden glow, responded Sreejesh’s family.
India lost to Australia for seven unanswered goals. When India reached the final in hockey at the Commonwealth Games in previous years, the country had won silver. Everyone expected gold this time. Sreejesh’s first save charged that expectation. But India lost for 7 unanswered goals. It spreaded a little bit disappointment in Sreejesh’s house in Kizhkambalam. However, the family’s response was that they were happy with the silver medal.
Australia has been unbeaten since the inclusion of hockey in the Commonwealth Games in 1998. They managed to retain the gold medal this time too. Earlier in 2010 and 2014, India reached the final but lost to Australia. India achieved a total of 3 silver medals in hockey in Commonwealth Games.
