Vrindavan: This time 501 Rakhis along with 75 tricolors have been sent to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi by widows living in Vrindavan on the festival of Rakshabandhan.
Till last few years, some widows used to visit PM’s house to tie Rakhi on the day of Raksha Bandhan. This time the Prime Minister’s office has been contacted and on getting permission, some widows could go to the Prime Minister to tie Rakhi.

Every year a program of making Rakhi for widows is organized by Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, the founder of Sulabh International and a well-known social reformer, and today the same event was done in Maa Sharda Ashram.
Today widows have decorated the Rakhi made by them in two baskets and are sending it to Delhi for the Prime Minister. By the representative of Sulabh that tomorrow these Rakhi will be delivered to PMO.
