New Delhi: The Centre has informed that the new parliament building will be functioning from November.
70% of the construction has been completed and the coming winter session of the parliament will take place in the new building, says the Centre.
Official sources said that some parts of Parliament will start functioning on November 26, the Constitution Day.
Handloom cushion carpets from Mirzapur and stones from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have been used in the construction of the new building.
The new parliament building is being constructed by Tata Projects Ltd. It includes a constitution hall, a rest room for the Members of Parliament, a library, multiple committee rooms, dining rooms and a spacious parking space.
Officials also clarified that an executive area will also be built with the new office of the Prime Minister, the Cabinet Secretariat, India House and the National Security Council Secretariat.
Recently, the national emblem was placed on the top of the building. The emblem with 9500 kg weight and 6.5 metre height was made in bronze.
The statue was made in eight stages including clay modelling, computer graphics and bronze casting.
