Thiruvananthapuram: Although the rain susided, relief work is still in progress. Alappuzha has the largest number of relief camps. Therefore the District Collector announced a holiday for the educational institutions where relief work is being carried out.
Meanwhile, no special alert has been issued to the districts due to reduced rainfall in the state. But fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea. However, the Meteorological Department also stated that there is no ban on fishing on Lakshadweep shores. The weatherman has also warned of strong winds of 35 to 45 kmph over the Kanyakumari coast and adjoining Gulf of Mannar south Tamil Nadu coast and 45 to 55 kmph over the central-eastern.
