Idukki: More than one lakh of Indian flags have been wasted due to the failure of meeting the standard size and shape of the flags and Ashoka Chakra. The flags were made by the Kudumbasree units for the celebration of the 75th year of Indian Independence. It is informed that the Kudumbasree had reversed the contract.
The state Government issued the contract to the Kudumbasree unit for preparing flags for conducting the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. The programme is being arranged by spending 30 lakhs of rupees. The state Government has decided to spend 28 rupees in order to make a single flag.
The Kudumbasree mission was responsible for making flags and distributing it among various panchayats. The contract was given after forming a consortium by 20 apparel Kudumbasree units.
But instead of making flags, the Kudumbasree has reversed the contract to two companies, based in Bengaluru. The companies made the flags without meeting the basic standards on its shape and size.
Now, several doubts have been raised on the contract and it is demanded that the state government should take strict charges against the responsible authorities of Kudumbasree.
