New Delhi: Nation attained third position in the number of start ups and unicorns globally. According to the most recent data, 105 unicorns are currently operating in the nation. Among this, 44 unicorns started in 2021 and 19 in 2022.
The union minister Jithendra Singh has declared this while attending DST start up ulsav took place at the Ambedkar International Centre. The Minister said that he hopes India would bring massive developments during this decade in the field of science, technology and innovation.
“Within last few years, India tripled the expense for the developments in research. According to the new figures, currently, there are more than 5 lakh of research and development officials in the nation. In the last 8 years the participation of women in this field has doubled. Now, after the US and China, India has the highest number of people who have PhDs in Science and Engineering” said the Minister.
He also said that the nation is being evolved according to the changing needs and opportunities under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
Currently, the nation is celebrating its 75th year of independence and India now has 75,000 start-ups. Several start ups are being developed in the fields like IT, Farming, Airways, Education, Energy, Space and so forth. And this has been spread across all cities. India has now become the third biggest investment friendly nation in the field of Science and Technology and is also one of the best nations in the field of scientific research. India has also marked its presence in the evolving fields like artificial intelligence and quantum mechanics, the Minister added.
