Srinagar: The construction of the Chenab Arch bridge has completed at a record speed. It got connected to the final and last girder today. Railway has presented the project after hoisting the national flag on it. The railway shared the pictures through its twitter platform.
This is the first time such a long single arch railway bridge has been created in the world. Today, the centre portion of the arch got connected after being gradually connected from both sides of the Chenab River. The railway line is passing through an area above the Salal dam, a place above where the Chenab River is falling down.
Railway authorities informed that with the completion of the arch, around 98 percent of the construction has been completed. The height from the earth towards the centre portion of the arch is 35 metres more than the height of the Eiffel tower, which is one among the 7 world wonders.
Afcon, a construction company based in Mumbai had taken the contract for this project. Along with this, 16 other Railway lines in Kashmir are also being constructed by the company. The Konkan Railway team, who created wonder by building railway lines on the highest pillars, are also there for assistance.
India now accomplished one of the toughest missions.
Along with the geographical complexities, adverse climatic conditions also made the construction work difficult.
The Engineers said that the real victory is the connection of the arch in the centre point without any failure is a victory.
This construction is now becoming a great miracle to the entire world.
