Pathanamthitta: Health Minister Veena George sought a report to the DMO, over the death of a patient due to lack of oxygen. The deceased was identified as Rajan, a native of Venpala. His relatives registered a complaint at Pulikeezhu station in Thiruvalla.
Police informed that they have filed a case on unnatural death and further procedures will be taken after the post-mortem at Kottayam medical college.
Meanwhile, Dr Biju B Nelson, the superintendent of the Thiruvalla Taluk hospital said that the allegation was baseless and the patient was admitted in the hospital with a low oxygen level of 38%.
As requested by the relatives, the patient was referred to Vandanam Medical College. He was sent to the hospital with a B-type full cylinder oxygen. Patient died 20 minutes after reaching the hospital, clarified the Superintendent.
On the incident the Human Right Commission has filed a case. The commission member V.K.Beenakumari has said that a report should be submitted within 15 days by the DMO.
