Kozhikode: A weird order was issued by Kozhikode sessions court in attempted sexual harassment case. The complaint will not stand as the woman was wearing a provocative dress, observes the court. The bench’s order came out last day, after granting anticipatory bail to writer Sivic Chandran. But after the release of the judgment copy, the observation of the court paved a way for discussion.
According to the photograph submitted to the court by the defendant along with the bail application, the clothes worn by the complainant exposed her body parts, said the court. Her dressing was a kind of something which stimulates the sexuality of the accused. Therefore, the court found that the complaint of attempted sexual harassment cannot stand.
The order was issued by Kozhikode sessions court judge S Krishnakumar. Earlier, bail was granted after considering the physical condition of Sivic Chandran. He told the court that he is 72 years old and needs the help of crutches to walk. Following this the court granted bail under several conditions. But the observation of the court about the victim’s dress is the cause of the defendant’s action, led to severe criticism.
