Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, in a crucial step to put an end to nepotism, has frozen the alleged Associate Professor appointment, including Priya Varghese. The Governor has given notice to VC of Kannur University in this regard. The Governor has taken this crucial decision against the violation of rules, by using the right of the Chancellor.

Vice Chancellor Dr.Gopinath Ravindran had told that the appointment order for Priya Varghese will be issued within two days. Governor’s action to freeze the appointment came after this. Governor has taken the action as per Section 7 in Chapter 3. Earlier, the Governor had told that he will never allow to play nepotism until he is in the position of the chancellor.

Right to information documents, released recently, revealed that Priya, the lowest in the score, got appointment while Joseph Scaria, who got research score 651 and C Ganesh, with 645. It was evident that those who had high marks were purposefully pushed behind. Priya had achieved only 156. Soon after the RTI details were released, Priya Varghese, in her Facebook, wrote that all those information were fake and she has the right and eligibility for the post.

Priya Varghese, wife of Chief Minister’s private secretary K K Ragesh, was appointed as associate professor because the interview board was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Gopinath Ravindran gave Priya, 32 marks while Scaria was given 30, and Ganesh, 28.
