Palakkad: Adulterated milk, tainted with urea has been seized at Meenakshipuram. The milk tanker was on the way from Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu to Thrissur, Kerala, ahead of Onam season. The milk tanker has been handed over to the food department for further procedure.
The inspection was held by the department of dairy development. It is reported that, during the initial inspection, urea tainted milk was found. Milk is adulterated with urea to enhance the quantity of fat content.
Usually, milk is delivered from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to meet the need for the Onam season. The State Government is forced to collect milk from other states as the storage of Milma has been deteriorated.
