NewDelhi: Report suggest that an amount of Rs 1000 crore has been given freely to doctors, for promoting ‘Dolo-650’ tablet, which is commonly prescribed for fever. This was reported in a petition filed by medical representatives in the Top Court. Only the companies has the responsibility in providing such tablets, states the Federation of Medical and Sales Representative Association. This allegation was raised by senior advocate Sanjay Parekh, who appeared for the association.

He pointed out that Dolo has invested more than 1000 crores for doctors alone, so that they will definitely support this tablet. Hearing this is not music to the ears, said Justice D Y Chandrachud. He said that, when he was suffering from Corona virus doctors advised him to take this medicine and this is a very serious matter. The court has directed the Center to respond within ten days. After receiving the response, the petition will be considered again.

Earlier, the Central Board of Direct Taxes had raided 36 establishments of Bengaluru-based Micro Labs Ltd. Then the information regarding the deposit of money was received. The petition also suggests that such practices lead to overuse of medicines and will worsen the health of patients.
