Thiruvananthapuram: The protest against the Vizhinjam International Transshipment Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport is on the eight day today. The strike began on 16 August intensified day by day though the concerned department held discussions.
The fishermen, reached Vizhinjam from Valiyathura, managed to break through the barricade and moved inside the port. The Latin Church representatives entered the area with sacks filled with crackers.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister today stated in the assembly that “the construction of the multipurpose seaport will not be stopped. All protesters against the port are not the natives of Vizhinjam. The demand to stop the construction work is against development”.
Three ministers and three priests representing the Latin Church will take part in the all party meet scheduled this evening.
