Thiruvananthapuram: The government has changed the question in the curriculum reform document after a controversy in gender neutrality. The authority had changed the question that asked the need to facilitate gender neutral seating arrangements inside the classrooms. The word ‘seating’ has changed to ‘school environment’. The change was made in the curriculum reform document released to the public regarding the curriculum reform.
There was widespread criticism against the proposal to make the children sit together regardless of their gender. Congress, Muslim League leaders came against this. The change came after this.
SCRT has released a Draft approach document for community discussion regarding the curriculum reform. It was in this context that there was a question of gender-neutral seating arrangements in classes. Now the word ‘seat’ has been changed to ‘atmosphere’.
