Thiruvananthapuram: The Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has responded to the media on the University amendment bill presented in the assembly today. The Governor told that legislatives have the right to pass the bill. But the Governor has specific right too.
“I will not allow a kind of selection where VC can be used to appoint relatives of those who are in power. Whatever bill is passed , as long as I am here, I will not allow the erosion of the autonomy of the university:, he said.
“I shall not allow Vice Chancellors being used to appoint close relatives of those who are in power. I will do my duties. Supreme Court has observed that universities are bound to obey the regulations of UGC”, added the Governor.
