Ayodhya: Uttar Pradesh government decides to light up about 14 lakh lamps for Diwali. The clay lamp ‘Diya’ will be lit up on the banks of the holy river Sarayu on the day before Diwali. College students will light them in the evening on the banks of Sarayu.
Yogi Adityanath started lighting Diyas lamps in 2017. 51,000 Diyas were lit that day. Then 4.10 lakhs in 2019, 6 lakhs in 2020 and 9 lakhs last year. With this, a new Guinness World Record has been made. This year, the goal is to create a record by lighting 14 lakh lamps.
The potters of Jaisingpur village are responsible for making the Diyas. Last year, the Diya was made at a rate of Rs 1. The workers said that this year it will be sold at the rate of Rs. 2. Forty families will create the lamp.
