Thiruvananthapuram: Kodiyeri Balakrishnan resigned from the post of CPM state secretary. Local Self-Government Excise Minister M V Govindan has been selected as the state secretary. The decision was taken in the CPM state committee meeting held today. It is now found that a rearrangement must take place in the cabinet.

Kodiyeri resigned as state secretary due to bad health conditions. After this, MV Govindan was selected for that position. He is a DYFI institutional leader and has been a member of the CPM Central Committee since 2018. He was the first state president of DYFI. He has also worked as a district secretary.

M V Govindan told the media that he will accept all the responsibilities that the party has given to him. The party has not taken a decision regarding the resignation as the minister. It will be decided later. He also said that the party has decided to provide comfortable treatment to Kodiyeri. His reaction was after visiting Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
