NewDelhi: The Gujarat state government filed an affidavit before the Supreme Court against Teesta Setalvad in connection with the 2002 Gujarat riots case. Evidence has been produced that Teesta Setalvad conspired with a senior leader of an important political party to subvert the cases.
On the basis of several evidence, the state government submitted documents against Teesta in the court. The State Home Department has also informed that the same matters which have been submitted in the Gujarat High Court have been submitted as evidence in the Supreme Court. The Gujarat government made the move a day before the new Chief Justice U.U. Lalit’s bench was to hear Teesta’s bail plea.
The conspiracy has been evident since the FIR was prepared against the BJP leaders. Many cases were fabricated and targeted. According to the affidavit, the purpose of the commission by the Congress was to obtain political, financial and other material benefits through a wrong way.
Teesta was arrested in July this year. The Congress aimed to include the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and other top officials in the fake case. The present Gujarat administration had discovered that all the conspiracies were under the leadership of Teesta.
