Dubai: With a huge win over Bangladesh, Sri Lanka entered the Super Four of the Asia Cup Cricket. Sri Lanka won by 2 wickets in the first match.
Bangladesh scored 183 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs against Sri Lanka who won the toss and chose to bowl. Afif Hussain who scored 39 runs, opener Mehdi Hasan Miraj who scored 38 runs, Mahmudullah who scored 27 runs and captain Shakib Al Hasan and Mosaddeq Hussain who scored 24 runs each, made a good batting performance for Bangladesh.
Karunaratne and Vanindu Hazaranga took 2 wickets each for Sri Lanka. Madhushanka, Thikshana and Asita Fernando got one wicket each.
Wicket keeper batsman Kushal Mendis’ brilliant performance in the reply batting gave Sri Lanka a huge victory. Mendis scored 60 off 37 balls. Captain Dasun Sanaka’s performance of 45 runs off 33 balls was also decisive in Sri Lanka’s victory.
