Idukki: The porters of the INTUC union beat the workers of a shop for not paying excessive wages in a wholesale shop near Adimali Minipadi. Three workers were injured in the incident.
The shop owner called the INTUC union workers to take down the 5 glasses that came to the shop. But the union workers demanded Rs 5000 for the work. When the owner informed them that the amount was too much, they returned saying that they were not ready to load the glass. The store staff put down the glass. By this time, the workers had returned and brutally beaten up the workers. Shop employees Pradeep Mahanta, Narad Burman and Sukh Lal Sinha were admitted to Adimali Taluk Hospital. The Adimali police stated that they have taken the statements of those who are in the hospital and will file a case against the INTUC porters.
