Thiruvananthapuram: State marked a record sale of alcohol on Uthradam (the day prior to Onam). The highest sale has occurred in Asramam ground, Kollam. The authorities also informed that there is a massive hike in the sale of alcohol that comes after a break due to the pandemic. Last year, 85 crore worth liquor was sold on Uthradam and this year, it has reached 117 crores.
A total sale of 624 crore took place within the seven days till Uthradam. Last year, the amount was 529 crore. The government alone received 550 crore rupees from the massive alcohol sale.
This year, four outlets have conducted sales for more than one crore. One crore sixty lakh rupees worth of alcohol has been sold from the Asramam outlet in Kollam, this time.
Huge sales have also taken place at Irinjalakuda, Court junction, Cherthala, Payyannur and Power House road outlets at Thiruvananthapuram.
