Thiruvananthapuram: A N Shamseer has been elected as the 24th speaker of Kerala Assembly. He defeated his opponent Anwar Sadath. Shamseer scored 96 votes while Anwar Sadath, 40.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan extended his wishes to the newly elected Speaker. ‘May the new Speaker keep up the legacy of the assembly and protect the rights of the members’, told Pinarayi.’ You are one among those who took the responsibility of speaker at a very young age. You have knowlege, and matured enough. That will surely reflect in the smooth functioning of the assembly. I am taking this opportunity to thank the former Speaker M B Rajesh’, added the CM.
V D Satheeshan, the opposition leader also wished A N Shamseer and told may Shamseer hold up the legacy of the assembly.
