NewDelhi: CBI will investigate the murder of actress and BJP leader Sonali Phogat. The CBI is taking up the investigation on the instructions of the Union Home Ministry. Sonali was found dead in a hotel in Goa on August 23. On the request of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the Union Home Ministry directed the CBI to take up the investigation.
Goa police have arrested 5 accused in the case. The police have arrested Sonali’s personal assistant Sudhir Sangwan, assistant Sukhwinder Singh, the owner of the hotel where Sonali died, a drug dealer and an intermediary. Police recovered CCTV footage of the accused Sudheer and aid Sukhveendher forcing Sonali to consume drugs.
Sonali’s brother Rinku Dhaka filed a police complaint that Sudheer and Sukhwinder raped and killed Sonali after giving her drugs. Deep wounds were also found on Sonali’s body in the post-mortem.
