Hyderabad: At least eight people have been killed and six others injured in a major fire that broke out in an e-bike showroom in Secunderabad.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was saddened by the loss of lives due to the fire in Telangana. Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be paid to the relatives of the dead and Rs 50,000 each to the injured, the PMO tweeted.
The fire broke around 11pm in the electric bike showroom, spread to a lodge on the upper floors, police said. The injured were undergoing treatment at various hospitals including the state-run Gandhi hospital in the city. The exact cause of the fire is being investigated, police added.
Home Minister Mahmood Ali and City Police Commissioner C V Anand visited the spot last night.
