Thiruvananthapuram: J Chinchu Rani, minister for Animal Husbandry, has responded over the dog manace of the state. Dogs become violent and start biting people because they don’t get food. Dog menace is being reported from the areas where garbage is thrown to streets. More than three lakhs dogs are roaming in the streets. Six lakhs doses of vaccines are in stock now and quick action will be taken to deal with the issue, said the minister.
Camps will be organised based on Panchayat level. Vaccines will be provided for pet dogs as well as street dogs at these camps. Street dog menace will be controlled by 2025, added Chinchu Rani.
Emergency steps will be taken in the areas where dog bite cases are frequently reported. Corporations are directed to distribute labels for pet dogs, said the minister to media.
