Malappuram: Two IndiGo employees were arrested in connection with a huge gold hunt at Karipur airport. Indigo Airline senior executive Sajid Rahman and customer service agent Mohammad Samil were arrested. Gold worth crores was seized from them.
The incident happened last night. The two were caught by the customs while trying to bring out the gold brought to the airport from abroad. The bag containing gold was in the name of Askar Ali, a native of Wayanad. But he left the bag at the airport and ran away. The police have intensified their search for him.
The bag contained 4.9 kg of gold, worth Rs 2.5 crore in the market. Since the owner was not there, the box was opened and checked at night in the presence of other witnesses and airline employees.
Sajid Rahman and Mohammad Samil have also brought out the gold that reached the airport earlier. After the incident the customs officials checked the CCTV footage of the airport. It is clear that gold was smuggled earlier.
