Thiruvananthapuram: The Police came up with a circular over the issue of stray dogs in the state. The circular says that killing dogs is punishable that leads to fine and imprisonment. It is also mentioned in the circular to give awareness to the people to stop killing the dogs.
Many news stories came out over the act of killing the stray dogs in background of the increasing attacks that have been prevailing across the state since weeks. Several public interest litigations (PIL) were filed against this in the High Court. The DGP has published and sent the circular to all station house officers when the court instructed the police to provide awareness for the people.
It is given in the circular that Killing dogs is a punishable crime. People should stop leaving their pets. The SHOs should give awareness on this through the residence associations. If any issues arises the people should inform the officials.
