Lucknow: Court issued five years imprisonment for a 26 year old youth under UP anti conversion law. This is the first punishment given under the anti-conversion law that has been passed in December 2021. The punishment was issued by the Amroha court in Uttar Pradesh.
The youngster named Afzal was sentenced to five years imprisonment and a fine of 40,000 rupees. The case filed against him was an abduction and forceful conversion of a 16 year old girl.
The complaint was filed by the girl’s father, who is the owner of a plant nursery. The girl who left the house for work did not return home and the neighbours said that she was found with the youngsters. The family also said that the girl has a close connection with Afzal, who came to the shop to buy plants.
Later, it has been found that Afzal had tried to convert the girl. The Police captured Afzal on 4 April 2021 and filed a case under Anti Conversion Law.
